Through her conceptual photography, Dörte Eißfeldt’s pursues an approach that is both experimental and process-oriented. The artist, who was honored with the Prix Viviane Esders in 2025, has repeatedly challenged the book medium with unconventional methods. In Eißfeldt’s new artist book, she opens the drawer with her “minor favorites”: small-format unique prints that rarely found their way into exhibitions, yet worth keeping present in the cyclical process of her engagement with her own material. She first presented them to the public at C/O Berlin in 2026. Dörte Eißfeldt: Favoriten invites the reader to discover her signature visual experiments and poetic compositions—multiple exposures, materials, montages—that have stood the test of decades. What stayed in the drawer thus proves to be the nucleus of an open-ended creative process in which the ostensibly incidental emerges as the true favorite.
